We love a good seafood chowder, especially a BC salmon one! That’s why we have it on the menu at all of our 3 locations: Whistler Cooks Catering, Hunter Gather Restaurant and the Cafe at Whistler Olympic Park.
Looking around Whistler it’s clear to see that we are in the change from Autumn to Winter, the colours are incredible and who doesn’t love the sound of the crunching leaves underfoot. We saw the first snowfall in Whistler Village last week and with a fresh blanket of snow arriving this morning, there’s nothing more satisfying than a warm bowl of creamy and delicious smoked steelhead salmon chowder.
Our delicious chowder starts with potatoes, carrots, onions and celery. After that comes a splash of white wine, some stock, cream, double smoked bacon, herbs and a few other simple ingredients, then it’s topped with the perfect flaky smoked salmon and you have a simple, but balanced dish that’s subtle and rich. It’s the ideal home cooked comfort food for a cold day!
Don’t just take our word for it:
Shelley on Yelp - “I also had Steelhead Chowder with fresh cilantro, taters, carrots, corn, bacon and smoked steelhead in a light creamy broth - perfect for cold and weary trekker!”
Tom on TripAdvisor - – “The chowder is rich broth topped off with a wonderful olive oil, chock full of veggies (potatoes, carrots, onions, celery, kernels of yummy corn and others), surrounding a wonderful slab of steelhead salmon. Look for the bits of pork as well. This will fill you up, so plan to split it if you want to try the other offerings here.”
Loyd on Yelp – “Seafood chowder with smoked salmon was hearty and well balanced”
